What is Experts on Camera?

Photos and videos that look real—but were actually generated by artificial intelligence (AI)—seem to be showing up everywhere. On March 19, 2026, SciLine interviewed Dr. Matthew Stamm is an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at Drexel University, where his work includes developing techniques to detect falsified images and videos.

So right now if you come across media that evokes a strong emotional reaction, the first thing you should do is pause and say this might be fake. It’s very easy to create a fake image, video, or audio signal, but it’s hard to create an entire information event. So if you encounter information that makes you upset, angry, or aligns with your existing beliefs very strongly. It’s smart to look to see if there’s another news source that’s reporting on the same event.
